The only trouble with this book was that it was non a book. A 3 page prequel.

Harry Potter: The Prequel was something that I personally didn't know existed and now I regret everything in life that let to that. I'k new to the Harry Potter volume fandom, I liked the movies for all of my babyhood but only immune myself to dive into the books this year. Sirius Black was my favourite character in the Harry Potter series, and this short 800-give-and-take story made me want to cry so much.

Set three years before Harry is built-in James and Sirius are doing what they practice best - getting into trouble. I read the story probably v times before realising information technology would not go longer no matter how many times I read through it. Which sucks. This brusque story is made up of quotes that had me grin to myself and wishing for a Maurders book. It'south difficult to write a review on this every bit I'm overcome with emotions and a complete urge to re-read this series.

There is an art to fitting a full tale into a few pages. This contained 1 action scene of unexplained fragments, in Jo Rowling'due south 800 words for a dyslexia charity. A conclusion, yet short on details, tin be accomplished; even on a eating house drinking cup. I will discuss that, when I review Carlos Ruiz Zafón'due south "Two-Minute Apocalypse". Notably, "Harry Potter: The Prequel", 2008, is a treat; just past being an additional glimpse of much-loved characters. James has seldom been seen.

A "Harry Potter" world timeline tells us that he and Lily were born in 1960 and died when Harry was iii months old; making them just 20. The scarcity of their time together leads to my almost trigger-happy critique of this piddling excursion. I remind myself that Jo'south oeuvres began every bit children'south literature and became beloved by all of us. The history and suspense are quite complicated and the ultimate goal is the grimmest it tin can be. Evil and darkness abound, while secrets and clues to decode, delight any avid mystery fan. The romance and family unit love, extended to the Weasleys and school teachers, are very adult in scope. Thus, teenagers roaring motorcycles over policemen's heads might generate hilarity for kids but was not to my gustation.

This entails 1 directionless piece of action. We don't know the bespeak of James's and Sirius's race and that interested me, not a whit. We could have basked in a lovely tableau of Harry with his parents. I am glad Jo's handwriting helped a charity simply would have, by far, preferred an emotional union. Such a heretofore unseen, moving personal portrait, would feel well-rounded; in a powerful outset and finish. I am a fan via the films and accept non however read the novels. A family prequel would exist wonderfully timely for me!

Although she writes under the pen name J.K. Rowling, pronounced like rolling, her name when her showtime Harry Potter book was published was but Joanne Rowling. Anticipating that the target audience of young boys might not desire to read a volume written by a adult female, her publishers demanded that she utilize two initials, rather than her full proper noun. As she had no middle name, she chose K equally the second initial of her pen proper noun, from her paternal grandmother Kathleen Ada Bulgen Rowling. She calls herself Jo and has said, "No ane ever chosen me 'Joanne' when I was immature, unless they were angry." Following her union, she has sometimes used the proper name Joanne Murray when conducting personal business. During the Leveson Enquiry she gave evidence nether the name of Joanne Kathleen Rowling. In a 2012 interview, Rowling noted that she no longer cared that people pronounced her proper name incorrectly.

Rowling was born to Peter James Rowling, a Rolls-Royce aircraft engineer, and Anne Rowling (née Volant), on 31 July 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England, 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Bristol. Her female parent Anne was half-French and half-Scottish. Her parents first met on a train departing from King'south Cross Station bound for Arbroath in 1964. They married on 14 March 1965. Her mother's maternal grandfather, Dugald Campbell, was built-in in Lamlash on the Island of Arran. Her mother's paternal gramps, Louis Volant, was awarded the Croix de Guerre for exceptional bravery in defending the village of Courcelles-le-Comte during the First Globe War.

Rowling's sister Dianne was built-in at their home when Rowling was 23 months onetime. The family moved to the nearby village Winterbourne when Rowling was four. She attended St Michael'southward Primary School, a school founded by abolitionist William Wilberforce and instruction reformer Hannah More. Her headmaster at St Michael's, Alfred Dunn, has been suggested as the inspiration for the Harry Potter headmaster Albus Dumbledore.

As a child, Rowling often wrote fantasy stories, which she would usually then read to her sister. She recalls that: "I can still recall me telling her a story in which she cruel down a rabbit hole and was fed strawberries by the rabbit family inside information technology. Certainly the first story I e'er wrote downwards (when I was five or six) was about a rabbit called Rabbit. He got the measles and was visited past his friends, including a giant bee called Miss Bee." At the age of ix, Rowling moved to Church Cottage in the Gloucestershire village of Tutshill, close to Chepstow, Wales. When she was a young teenager, her swell aunt, who Rowling said "taught classics and approved of a thirst for knowledge, even of a questionable kind," gave her a very old re-create of Jessica Mitford'south autobiography, Hons and Rebels. Mitford became Rowling'due south heroine, and Rowling afterwards read all of her books.

Rowling has said of her teenage years, in an interview with The New Yorker, "I wasn't specially happy. I retrieve information technology's a dreadful time of life." She had a difficult homelife; her female parent was ill and she had a difficult relationship with her begetter (she is no longer on speaking terms with him). She attended secondary school at Wyedean School and College, where her mother had worked as a technician in the science department.
